Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence 2025

March 8 - 26

Ceramic Arts Queensland (CAQ) is proud to present the highly anticipated Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence Exhibition, a premier showcase of contemporary Australian ceramics.

The Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence is a recognition and celebration of artistic excellence and innovation in ceramics. Since its inception in 2015, the Siliceous Award has grown in profile and now receives local, national, and international media coverage. It attracts a high standard of entries from both established career artists and enthusiasts around Australia.

“Ceramic art extends well beyond the creation of functional objects. While technical proficiency is essential, it is the artist’s ability to imbue their works with distinctive ideas and emotions that distinguishes their creations”, stated Dr Judith Hamilton, President, Ceramic Arts Queensland.

The winners of the major prizes, the Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence and Gwyn Hanssen Pigott Wood Fired Ceramics Award, will be announced at the exhibition’s opening night event on Saturday 8 March 2025, at 6pm.

The exhibition will be open to the public at the Metcalfe Gallery, Brisbane Institute of Art from 9 to 25 March 2025, open daily from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free and all are welcome. All work, other than the recipient of the Siliceous Award, will be for sale.
